Genre of Music

The music genre I have chosen is "INDIE POP" for my magazine. Indie pop has become increasingly popular with everyone in the 21st century and appeals to a wide audience.

Definition of :Indie pop
(also known as twee pop or twee music in the United States) is a genre of alternative rock music that originated in the United Kingdom in the mid 1980s, with its roots in the Scottish post-punk bands on the Postcard Records label in the early '80s, such as Orange Juice, Josef K and Aztec Camera, and the dominant UK independent band of the mid eighties, The Smiths.

I have looked at "Indie pop" artists for inspiration, such as:

Jason Mraz
Kate Nash
Ladyhawke
VV Brown
Ellie goulding
Daisy Dares You
Florence and the Machine
Diana Vickers
Vampire Weekend
Lily Allen

Indie Pop market research:

Taken from www.UKTRIBES.com
Indie Pop:
Musically, Vampire Weekend, The Killers, The Klaxons, Glasvegas, Lily Allen, Pete Doherty, Friendly Fires, Bloc Party are currently important – and members don’t go off a band just because they have chart success. Indie kids are particularly fond of bands with teenage members, like Cajun Dance Party or Laura Mauling, where there’s a small gap between the band and their audience.
Fashion of Indie Pop Artists:
Fashion-wise, the uniform of Converse and skinny jeans, fringes, band T-shirts and lots of jewellery remains unchanged. Clothes are second-hand not vintage.

Wearing:

Foppish, floppy haircut
Waistcoat
Thick rimmed glasses
Skinny Jeans
Cardigan
Stripy T-shirt
Bleached Hair for Girls
Lots of Jewellery

When taking my photographs I will make sure I take the style of an Indie Pop artist into condsideration- So it appeals to my target Audience.
